Otomi Martial Arts | Caio Terra Association Brazilian Jiu Jitsu would like to congratulate Zandra Fountila on winning her second worlds title at the recent IBJJF Worlds tournament especially since her bracket consisted of girls that had beaten her previously.
Zandra’s training regimen included waking up at 6am to do her first workout, attending competition training class at Caio Terra Association HQ in San Jose from 1-3pm, and staying at HQ to make the 6pm fundamentals class followed by the 7pm advanced class. Her day would end around 10pm when she arrived at her house to do her last workout of the day! (Whew … All this while still preparing for her upcoming schools final exams the week following Worlds.)
Zandra’s first match was against Zoey Chiles from team Alliance. She won within the first minute with a bow and arrow submission especially nice since Zoey had beaten Zandra previously. Next up was Domini Engelmeier who would also be submitted via a triangle-armbar combo. Zandra’s third and final match against Abbigayle Tetterton (also Brasa CTA) was the most exhilarating as it came down to the last 5 seconds before she was able to pull out the victory.
Zandra exudes her gratitude to all that have helped her and can be found training all the time with her family and friends. Thanks Zandra for being an amazing young lady of BJJ and role model for young women!
