Otomi Martial Arts | Caio Terra Association Brazilian Jiu Jitsu would like to congratulate Jessica Caroline on her dynamic gold medal win at the IBJJF Worlds 2019.
In preparation, Jessica worked very hard with a training regimen which consisted of 3 daily workouts; including a morning session of Crossfit and two additional Jiu Jitsu drilling sessions. Additionally, Jessica had to be on a very strict nutrition plan since she would have to lose 10 kg (22 pounds) to compete in her category.
Jessica and Professor Alessandro Nunes arrived in the US a week before the fight to get accustomed to the time zone. Once here the she continued with the same training as in Brazil and was able to make the weight a day before the event!
In the competition, she had 3 matches. The first was against an Alliance competitor where she bested her opponent by a score of 2 x 0. Her second match and semifinal was against the current European champion. Again Jessica won with an impressive foot lock in just 27 seconds! Her final match was with Amber Rymarz-freitas, a Gracie Barra competitor. This match had Jessica winning the contest with a score of 10 x 0 when in the last minute Jessica submitted Amber with a stranglehold!
If you get the chance to travel to Brazil, make sure to find Professor Alessandro Nunes and Jessica for a great BJJ experience!
