At CTA Colorado | Otomi Martial Arts one of the first documents all new students receive is our dojo etiquette. Dojo literally means, “the place of the way”. At the Dojo we learn much more than martial arts, we learn how to live together as human beings. Before entering the mats we bow, to show respect for our training area, our partners and those who came before us. We also bow before and after class, paying respect to each other, to our sensei’s and to our nation.
Once class starts we have rules that reinforce martial values as well as hygiene and personal safety. We learn to be respectful of ourselves on the mat and it is my hope that all students extend these rules into their personal life. At CTA Colorado | Otomi Martial Arts we have a saying, “whatever you do, do it well” and we get to practice this daily in the dojo.
Thank you for reading and if your new to martial arts keep training! The journey only gets better with time!!
