With so many positions to learn, training can be overwhelming if you don’t take the time to understand the techniques in class. One way to improve your understanding is by staying an extra 10-15 minutes at the end of a class and drilling the position of the day again with your partner. Even better, you can ask one of the instructors to watch you drill the technique and give feedback in the moment.
The first time you see a technique, your goal is simply to learn its basic application. As you drill and use the position in live training, you will learn new reactions and gain a deeper understanding of how to play Jiu-Jitsu rather than forcing moves with physical attributes like strength or flexibility. This is how we grow!
